Womanist Musings

There are times when you get closer to the reality it hurts. Very few tend to write on the real things and express it in a way that will leave a place somewhere. I like to read such writings and believe me they are getting very rare. Most of the times writer tend to write on fantasies and own creations. That is because it sells faster. Believe me that a good writer will try to write something on reality. This blog is something about such thing.

Womanist Musings is one of the blogs which goes towards the reality and tries to bring out some issues which were never in focus. When I first hit this blog i thought it’ll be just another political blog expressing blah blah about democrats and republican parties. When I started reading carefully and peeking through archive gave me an idea of how good the blog is.

Everyday stories with a different perspective are common but these are not just everyday stories. As the name suggests most of the stories are related to woman. I am confused though that the blog name is due to the above reason or because they are being written by a woman. Almost every story will strike you. If you re a good reader then you’ll be back. Livewire News

What is this live wire?? Is it something that will give you a shock?? Nope. This is different. This is a blog service which gathers posts from blogs. You need to submit the posts and this is for free. The posts you submit are displayed as news items. Readers will vote to the posts and make popular. You just have to submit the post you already typed. Just copy paste stuff. Who doesn’t like copy paste??
Livewire News
You’ll say…. Yeah. There are many similar services available. They all provide such thing and are free also. Why should I join Livewire?? Then just have a look at the website. The layout is kept very simple at the same time easy to navigate. The simple design makes the site load in a flash. Most of the similar services take a whole lot of time to load. The site is neatly organized into categories. Easy to navigate as I said already. You can sort news “Top Today”, Yesterday, Week, Month and Year.

Entrecard – What is it??

I had registered to Entrecard some days back. But I never inserted the code. The reason was simple. I didn’t knew much about this thing. So I just registered and kept myself away from this. Just when I started finding this entrecard everywhere, I became curious about it.  Did some reading about entrecard and the credits thing. Thought it may just help to get some visitors. And there you see my entrecard.

It’s on temporary basis. Just as I tried trafficswarm and it failed for me. I’ll keep this for about a month and check how it works out. If I get some visitors it’ll stay here, else the dust bin is the place to be. I noticed a lag in loading the sidebar due to entrecard. I hate that. Thats why I keep minimum external links. Right now I’m also thinking of uploading all images to my site instead of using imageshack.

To make a room for entrecard, I removed the search bar. I noticed that hardly anyone uses the search. A bit of organized categories, archives and calender kept searching away. I’ll still keep a link in the meta later on. If at all you need to search then that will help. Also I added the “Add This” button. Now its easy to bookmark the blog. I may remove it and use the buttons for some commonly use social bookmarking sites.

Also this socialspark is making me crazy. I’ve registered to it and claimed my blog. Still not verified. I’ve kept the link in body tag for the statistics and a higher izea rank. That is the prime reason for slowing down the loading time of the blog. I want to remove it but a higher rank can help to get some hits. If I get bad feedback about this then I’ll remove that. After all this blog is for your reading.

Spread Nonsense and Think Nonsense…

More Changes

Last week I made some changes to my blog. They were minor changes. But I had some good changes in my mind that time. Unfortunately I could not implement them as I fell sick. Was not in a position even to stand forget the changes. Yesterday I felt better and today I’m almost fine. A little bit of cough still persists. So I decided to make some changes.

First thing was to have a Favorite icon. As you can see now my blog looks different in all those tabs. You can easily identify my page due to that small image. The “G” images. What does “G” stands for?? Well “G” stands for Genius. 😀 It’s my Initial letter. There are many fancy things also. But I thought of this simple icon.

Secondly some CSS changes. Now the links in my posts appear in clear red. Earlier it was difficult to find which text is link. But now it’s clearly visible. Also the text at the bottom of page is changed. Earlier it was “Next Page and Previous Page” now it’s “Older Posts and Newer posts”. Sensible??? Continue reading →

Flock – The Social Browser

Just another web browser. For me it’s everything. It’s my default web browser. I was fed up of crashes with Firefox and high memory usage. The high memory usage problem still persists. Since the Browser is based on Firefox. But It doesn’t crashes. I don’t have to use many extensions as many features I want are integrated into it. I just love the Web clipboard feature. It’s like my life. Just clip to it and use it in my blog. Very simple. I can setup my blog through flock and never visit blog editor on my blog. The features of Blog editor are pretty neat. Then there is integration to many social networking sites and upload sites.

Features:

Flock 1.1 integrates social networking and media services including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, Blogger, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, etc. When logging into to any of the supported social services, Flock automatically activates these services within its features:

* Flock can indicate when friends have updated their profile, uploaded photos or other things.
* Flock has internal features that allow simpler sharing for text, links, photos or even entire videos.
* Flock has its own system allowing quick preview of online videos and photos, and subscription to video feeds.
* Flock’s Feed Reader organizes Atom and RSS feeds.
* Flock’s Blog Editor allows direct posting into a designated blog, along with being a blog reader.
* Flock also allows for third-party add-ons, including a number of Firefox extensions.

Requirements:
None in particular. Doesn’t support Windows 98 (I think so). Who uses that OS By the way.
