The Naked Dog

A typical day and a typical Indian street. I am walking from my home on the way to my office(Site office to be precise). Luckily for me, My office is just at a walkable distance. That’s probably 5-6 minutes. On this typical day I find changes. It’s November and rain is over(It’s not. Thanks to Phyan). This is the time when the road sides are occupied by shrubs or small plants. Municipality sends a person with Grass cutter. It’ll be a miracle if they do their job complete. So they leave whatever they cut on the road. No need to clean. I find a cat eating some leaves from the left over.

Moving ahead there is a spring which is there for years. The area I live is known by the name of that spring(Springs do have a name). Earlier locals used to drink water from this but now you only find outsiders taking bath and doing their stuff there. A gutter goes by the side of this spring.(I already said it’s a typical Indian street.) There is an open space aside of this spring where some cars are parked. And this place is also the hangout of the street dogs. Between all the dogs I find a dog without hairs. Some kind of disease which makes dog naked.

November month marks the start of mating season. You’ll find dogs doing that thing openly, as if we don’t exist. This poor naked fella finds it difficult to move into the club of the dogs. He is separate from others keeping safe distance, with fear in his eyes and his tail down inside between the back legs. At that moment I thought we are also dogs and not monkeys. A person with physical abnormalities will stay away from the crowd. Just like that naked dog.

A couple of month back, I saw a similar dog. This one was a pet dog. There was a hut giving shelter to a family of labor. This dog was their pet. Unless you are from PETA or a die-hard dog lover(I doubt about them too), no one cares about these dogs. No one want’s to keep them as pets. This dog started barking when I came close to the hut alarming that labor. I found this a bit strange. This is no different dog if it had some hairs on it. He does his job even without hairs, even if the ones with hairs keep him distant. I quite liked this quality and wonder if this exists in us. Does it??

I hope that such dogs end up finding a mate.

P.S.: It’s complete coincidence that this post is also related to hair. I realized it at the end. Please don’t conclude that I write only about hairs or I am bald.

Shower of Rain

Today I can forget my Yesterdays post. So do you. Just when I was troubled by heat, Shower of rain cooled the things. I am much relieved from the heat. At least I’ll be able to concentrate more on the work. Funny thing is that, there is very less work for me when it rains. That may not be the case here on this job.

Smell of soil in the air is an indication of thirsty Earth getting relief from the baking heat of Sun. Hot air is replaced by cold breeze and this is the perfect time for a tea or coffee with “Pakodas”. Luckily, I had both today. The lethal combination of above will be recalled many more times later this monsoon. I am always waiting for such moments.

Till that time comes…

H For Hot, H For Hell

Day by day the mercury is rising. It’s not the thermometer immersed in hot water. It is the one that’s hung in the office. This is the end of May and there is not a single shower of rain. Unlike last years rain in February, it looks like a drought period. What is ahead is still unknown and unpredictable to anyone. Our weather department makes some guesses which always turn out to be guesses only.

Summer is the season of mangoes. I love mangoes. This year there is a drought of mangoes also. Mangoes do relieve me from heat to some extent. This is till I go for work on site where the sun is over me and sipping every drop of water inside me. The rest of the water goes out. You know what I mean by “goes out”.

Two times bath is compulsory this season and I feel like taking more. At some point everyday I feel like sleeping in water for the whole day. I wished I could change my job every season and according to season. A job near beach would be great at this point. Dip into the sea every now and then, would save me from heat. Not to mention the “Eye Candy” on the beach. That is another reliever.

The biggest problem for me in summers is my sleep. I find it very difficult to sleep unless I am very much tired from job. It would still take some time to get into sleep. Fan on the ceiling seems to be fanning hot air instead of cool, sleep friendly air. When will I get a room with working AC mounted? My body hates clothes during this season. What to do?? I am not living in stone age, else I would have dropped all. If I do it now, I’ll be sent to mental hospital or in the jail where there is no sign of fan.

Striving through all these, I manage to enjoy my weekends which add to relief. I am wishing for the rains to come soon. Very soon…

Till then…

Festive Five days

Glad to be blogging again. After being offline for five days here I am with a dose of nonsense. It is amazing that the five days ended very quickly. I woke up yesterday morning just to see that it was the last day of the festival. Gosh!!! It should have been more. All the hard work in preparations, in prayers, in the rituals, in the aarti’s was fun to do. Meetings in join family always rejoiceful.

Yesterday was the immersion day. Rains for the past four days were not in the picture. To our surprise rains god wanted to give us company for the immersion ceremony. The close by river where we immerse the idol was almost flooded within no time. When I went there and saw the speed of water I thought we’ll be having trouble today. Thankfully rain intensity reduced and it was all good in the end. It was 2 o’clock by then.

I came home today and first thing was as usual to be online. A flood of e-mails and messages was waiting for me. And there is still the subscriptions of the blogs which I haven’t finished. It’ll take sometime to complete. I wish I owned a laptop so that I could finish them in my free time at work. It’ll take 2-3 days maybe.

The first thing I noticed was my e-mails where “chromed”. Many e-mails regarding this Google browser which I won’t be using. Secondly due to lack of publicity there was not much response to “Talking Picture 05”. So no results this time. It seems nobody liked the snowman drinking beer. =] I’ll be trying different traffic source from next month and will slow down use of entrecard till the big announcement.

The last five days were great. Chatting with my siblings, uncles, friends, some other relatives really pulled of everything that was on my head. It feels much more relaxed. Now I am ready for routine life. Such breaks in the routines should be made compulsory. Now have to see where my work has reached?? I’ll have to wear a bulletproof jacket tomorrow. 😆

It’s Raining Man

It is raining heavily here. There is a flood like situation from the morning. There was a long break taken by the rain god and now he is fresh and working heavily. Rains almost disappeared till last 7-8 days. It has been raining moderately till today. I was happy to see the rains back as it cools down everything and brings life into things.

The alarm has been sounded three times since morning. This year there are some precautionary measures being taken in order to fight the floods. There are lifeboats standing in nearby police station. The alarm is also a new introduction in the system. Although to the best of my knowledge there was no information given about the use of alarms. There are many who will be unaware of it’s use.

Yesterday coming from my site there was rain. Due to the rain throughout the day there was beatiful climate. It was cool and soothing. I usually listen to music on my N72 when there is no friend to talk with in the bus. Some beautiful songs were being played and I flowed away into them. Then I thought of getting wet in the rain. Just when the bus stopped I walked out without opening my umbrella. Wowwwww!! I was feeling the rains. With the music still playing and my phone too enjoying the rain I walked towards my home.
