Play The Movie

I am a movie buff and it’s been years. I have a portable VCD player which I bought four years ago. But watching movies on TV was not of my liking. That was because of the old TV set. Last year on my fathers birthday we bought a new 29″ flat TV. It is big enough for me. And since then I always wanted a DVD player. But the problem was that I wanted the DivX files to play on the TV. So I waited and on Saturday I bought a DVD+DivX player.

I tried searching the net for that model but I didn’t find the link for that. Before that I did some study about available players. There was no player which supported Xvid format which is as popular as DivX. I contacted a dealer nearby for a similar player. There was none available. I was also looking for a player which could play files from USB drive. And all this search ended on Saturday.

Before buying the player, I went to the showroom and asked for models available. I asked whether I can check the player by playing from USB drive and he said OK. That was on Thursday. So I prepared some file samples from all the movie files I have and dumped them on USB drive. Following are the details of file samples.

  • DivX 5 with MP3 audio CBR
  • DivX 5 with MP3 audio VBR
  • DivX 5 with AC3 audio
  • Xvid with MP3 audio CBR
  • Xvid with MP3 audio VBR
  • Xvid with AC3 audio
  • Xvid with MP3 audio CBR whose FOURCC I changed to DX50 Read More »

Who is Chetan??

Today’s blog is inclined towards technology. It’s a tech blog rather than a personal or something related to writing. So far the blogs I reviewed were all related to writing. The author wrote his thoughts and they kind of attracted me to reading. But this is different. This is about technology. And you should have knowledge before writing the stuff. Practical knowledge is icing on cake.

The blog I am talking about is The Chetan. To be frank when I visited this blog for the first time I was expecting writings from the author. The site name is something not realted. When you give a domain name like that you expect personal thoughts and writings there. Still I went ahead and started reading the posts. Read More »

Apple iPhone

iphone

Everybody is talking about iPhone. What’s so special about this gadget? What is making this different from others? I am not suppose to be reviewing this gadget. And I will not and cannot do that as I can’t afford this phone. Maybe some guy will allow me to use this phone and then i can review. But till then let’s get some cool features and technology behind this phone. Also the reason for this post is due to it’s launch in India. It is now provided by Airtel and Vodafone at a price which will make a deep hole in your pockets.

Apple is a brand known for user interface and user friendliness. After watching many videos and reviews I think it’s true. The first thing in features is the memory. This phone has inbuilt flash memory, It comes in two variants 8GB and 16GB. This is one of the greatest achievement in phone arena. Till date phones were running on memory based on cards which is slow. Flash memory is inbuilt and is much faster than memory card. That will improve performance but if you loose phone it’ll be difficult to recover data unlike cards which can be removed and can be read in card reader. Read More »

A day without wallet

Have you ever been into such a situation?? This happened to me that day. I was in a hurry, as always, to go to my office. My jeans was a bit too much dirty so I thought of changing. Usually I am very clean and neat person. I change my jeans once a week. That helps me to keep my other jeans clean and safe. Also one jeans per week reduces my washing work on Sunday. I can wake up late.

So I was in hurry. I opened my cupboard and started searching for the jeans I wanted. It’s been over 3 months I am planning to clean up that pileup. After searching a bit I found the jeans and I jumped into it. Since it’s jeans who cares about ironing it. That saves some more time and energy. Then I put on my shirt and was ready. I was totally unaware that I forgot to put my wallet in my jeans.

Next I packed my lunch box and started running for my bus. You see I do exercise on daily basis. Learn something from me. Fortunately I got my bus just on time. If I was fraction late then I would have missed it. At this stage I was still unaware that I forgot my wallet. To add up, I didn’t got a sit. Standing in bus is not a problem unless it has enough room for my height.

I started playing music and my eyes started their job. The ticket conductor started collecting tickets and at that moment I realized that I didn’t bought my wallet. Now what to do? I was excited. There was a friend, who is now my office colleague, sitting on a sit where my back was facing. There was no place so that I could start boring her with my talk. I thought of asking her for money. But it’s the men’s pride which came in between. I started searching my bag and luckily found enough to travel till my site. Exactly seven coins in change. After reaching site I asked one of my labor contractor for some money and he gave it.

No more excitement. I was expecting a thrilling experience of some punches and embarrassment. But nothing happened. One thing for sure. I’ll not forget my wallet again. In todays tech world, you have ATM’s, Debit cards, Credit cards for money without notes. But I don’t use any and I don’t have the latter two. Now don’t forget your wallet. You may not have someone to help.
