The five minutes difference

While at the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground.
“That is my son over there,” she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide.”He is a fine looking boy” the man said. “That is my daughter on the bike in the white dress.”

Then, looking at his watch, he called to his daughter. “What do you say we go, Melissa?”
Melissa pleaded, “Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five more minutes.”
The man nodded and Melissa continued to ride her bike to her heart’s content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his daughter. “Time to go now?”

Again Melissa pleaded, “Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes.”
The man smiled and said, “OK.”
“My, you certainly are a patient father,” the woman responded.
The man smiled and then said, “Her older brother Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy and now I would give anything for just five more minutes with him. I have vowed not to make the same mistake with Melissa. She thinks she has five more minutes to ride her bike. The truth is, I get Five more minutes to watch her play.”

Sooner or later you too realize the importance of five minutes to your family. Running after money and the work pressure takes away these five minutes from your family. Here the man pays the price for the five minutes. I pray that no one else suffers like this. Also I hope that you understand the importance of five minutes to loved ones before it’s too late.

Why are you late??

Way back when school was school and not a way to earn money, there was a lot discipline in the schools. I remember my school days. I studied in a christian school where discipline injected in our bloodstream. You can compare that with the military training. Schools too can discipline as effectively as the cadets or soldiers in military. The dumb students or those sitting at the back of the class surely think school as military camp.

Being late in school was never allowed. I hardly saw anyone coming late to school. When there was someone then that student has to take a long walk towards the principals office. To be frank, Our school was in discipline just because of our principal. There was a fear for him in my mind till my last year in school when he taught us maths. He always asked me for the answers and my answers clicked often. And throughout the school life I never heard that question.. “Why are you late??Read the rest of this entry »

You cannot depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.
- Mark Twain

As a normal day he was walking on the road. But he was focused. His neck was turned 90 degree to the right and he was walking straight. In such a particular situation often a pole comes in between and hits the head. That’s a normal thing. Since it was a normal day this normal thing happened. Ouchhh… He quickly got up and started walking forward in same manner. A dog’s tail can never be straightened. He was strongly focused.

And Ouchhh.. again. But this time a woman dashes into him and the ouchhh comes from her mouth. She looks at him, he looks at her. She walks away. He quickly realizes that he needs to focus and looks to right. Runs forward and she is gone. So he lost two woman’s. One due to lack of focusing and one he never tried to focus. This is the reason I am telling you guys, learn to focus.

Why do we think??

Thinking

Ever wondered about this? Ever got a question like  this? Probably never. But I get this question when I am idle. I am still trying to find the best answer to this question. When you are idle, it is the time when you get so many question and it happens that you don’t have answers to them. You are desperate to find the answers. There are some silly questions also which you don’t put forward as you are afraid of being called an idiot or may be a retard.

So what do you do then? My bad habit of being restless till I find the answer still exists. So I start looking for the probable answer. One of the first answers is that our brain loves to think. So it cannot stop the process of thinking. You can say that the love is Romeo and Juliet kind of love. There is no certain topic or certain area of thinking. It is random and happens unknowingly most of the time.

The second answer is rather scientific. There was this doctor named Dr. No who did a research on this topic and finally he died of thinking too much about “Why do we think??Before dying he wrote the results in a diary. It took months and lots of efforts by the handwriting experts to understand and recreate the results. It said that there becomes some chemical imbalance in our brain which evokes the neurons creating impulses which picks up random words we know and generates a random sentence. This sentence then becomes thought. It was quiet clear that Dr. No was deeply researching and had lost his mind. Read the rest of this entry »

Sitting on the edge

Edges are dangerous most of the times. They hurt you as well. Sitting on the edge is what you won’t like to do. That is because you never know when you will fall. For an acrophobic person, The one who has fear for height, this is almost like a suicide. Without even attempting a jump he will be falling down from height just because of the fear for height.

Some years back, before joining to my first job, I was an acrophobic person. i used to fear by the heights. I was unable to go near the edges of anything high. imagine the cautious slow steps towards the edge going inch by inch. After joining the first job I had to climb the scaffoldings and the roof slabs for checking purpose. This is when my fear started fading. It still exists but to a small extent.
